95 • Deschutes Brewery 2010 Reserve The Dissident.
Deep amber copper color. Vibrant aromas of sour cherry and apple breads and pies and a hint of parmesan cheese with a rich supple, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, toasted grain bread, peppery spice, and earthy/barky hop accented finish. Tremendous complexity and richness. (tasted on Sep-14-2011)
92 • Goose Island Beer Co. 2010 Madame Rose.
Deep clear copper color. Lavish aromas of dried sour cherries, Amarone wine, cocoa, nuts, and delicate spice with a tart, fruity-yet-dry medium-full body and a long, tangy apple cider vinegar and pomegranate molasses finish. A sensational sour beer that will triumph at the table with strong cheeses. (tasted on May-11-2011)
89 • Bastone Brewery Lait de Mere.
Rich reddish brown color. Aromas and flavors of caramel buttercream on banana cake and strawberry yogurt with a frothy, tangy, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a crisp, refreshing citrus, sour cherry skin, nut, and grassy earth finish. Very zesty, will be great at the table with spicy pork dishes. (tasted on May-11-2011)
89 • Arbor Brewing Company Flamboyant Wild Red.
Cloudy copper brown color. Tangy, yeasty vinous aromas of fermenting apples and nuts with a supple, tart dryish medium-to-full body and a great melange of sour citrus, cherry yogurt, and dusty wood notes. A nice take on the style. (tasted on May-11-2011)
