96 • The Dalmore "MacKenzie" 17 Year Old Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky $175.
Brilliant copper color with an orange cast. Decadent aromas of spicy Bananas Foster, roasted nuts, toasted raisin bread, and sweet heathery peat follow through on a buoyant, lightly tannic entry to a rich dry-yet-fruity full body with tremendous vibrancy and depth of flavor. Finishes with almost vinous acidity and cascades of exotic peppercorns, dried stone fruits, delicate medicinal barks and herbs, and minerals. A bold, dynamically flavorful Scotch that demands attention. Smoothes and rounds out tremendously with a touch of spring water. (tasted on May-18-2010)

Pale golden yellow color. Aromas of toasted Hawaiian bread, peach and apple butters, blossoms, and honeyed nuts follow through on a soft, silky entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-full body with superb depth and vibrancy. Finishes with a long tropical fruit creme brulee, mineral, praline, and rich baking spice accented glow. Fantastically flavorful and drinkable. (tasted on May-11-2010)

Golden yellow color. Rich aromas of honeyed figs and dried fruits, caramelized nuts, and toasted muffins follow through on a satiny entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-full body with excellent interplay and balance. Finishes with a long wave of spicy pistachio nougat, sweet cream, toasted grain and minerals. An elegant, almost feminine whisky with an alluring style. (tasted on May-11-2010)

Golden yellow color. Aromas of cashew brittle, rich dried fruits, honey butter, anise, and lightly toasted grains follow through on a soft, supple entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium-full body with excellent depth and vibrancy. Finishes with a sweet cream, wet stone, and nougat accents on the long peppery fade. Delightfully drinkable. (tasted on May-11-2010)

Pale amber color. Aromas of toasted cereal, heather, honey, and yellow plums follow through on a silky soft entry to a dryish medium body with subtle depth, integration and intensity. Finishes with a toasty praline, wet earth, and peppery spice fade. A sturdy dram. (tasted on May-18-2010)
