89 • L. Mawby NV Cremant Classic Brut Estate Bottled, Leelanau Peninsula $22.
Pale golden color. Lightly meaty accented aromas of baked fruit bread, toasted spiced nuts, and honey follow through on a crisp entry to a dryish light-to-medium body with a nice hint of ginger. Finishes with tart, refreshing citrus peel accents. Very nice mature character here. (tasted on May-13-2010)
88 • L. Mawby NV Blanc de Blancs Brut, Leelanau Peninsula $19.
Pale silvery golden color with medium bubbles. Fruity baked peach, floral honey, and lemon tart aromas follow through on a soft entry to a tart, but somewhat flat light-to-medium body with racy kumquat and grapefruit notes and a wet stone tinged finish. Could use a touch more effervescence but otherwise, nicely structured and seafood friendly. (tasted on May-13-2010)
88 • L. Mawby NV Blanc de Noir Brut, Leelanau Peninsula $19.|Find-a-Wine|
Pretty pale golden amber color with wispy bubbles. Lightly toasty brioche, nectarine and lemon custard aromas follow through on a soft, lightly effervescent entry to a crisp, dry-yet-fruity medium body with nice vibrancy and tanginess. Finishes with tart, mouthwatering stone fruit and citrus peel and talc accents. A very nice aperitif, or serve with oysters. (tasted on May-13-2010)
