92 • St. Clair NV Bellissimo Sparkling, New Mexico $13.99. Best Buy.
Bright straw yellow color. Vibrant tropical fruit, ginger, lemongrass, and floral soap aromas follow through on a racy entry to a fruity sweet medium-full body with penetrating layers of tangy fruit, golden raisin puree, and spices. Finishes with a long, resonant and evolving rush of flavors. Fantastically flavorful and refreshing. (tasted on Jun-18-2009)
91 • D.H. Lescombes NV "Royal Kir", New Mexico $11.99. Best Buy.
Bright aromas of cassis liqueur, cherry balm, pickled pepper, and lemon curd follow through on a round, frothy entry to tangy fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with nice notes of melon, lime yogurt, and minerals. Finishes with a dusty, spicy dried cassis fade. A great kir royale! (tasted on Jun-18-2009)
86 • Biltmore Estate NV Pas de Deux Sparkling Sec, American $18.99.
Pale golden straw color. Aromas of honeyed dried peaches, apricots, golden raisins and lavender soap are very moscato like and follow through on a lively entry to a fruity sweet medium body with candied apple, sea salt, and floral talc notes. Finishes with a zesty, powdery fruit tannin fade. (tasted on Jun-18-2009)
83 • D.H. Lescombes NV "Imperial Kir", New Mexico $11.99.
Aromas of raspberry yogurt, cherry lifesaver, brown sugar, and violet gum follow through on a round entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with good depth and a melon and cherry Tums accented fade. (tasted on Jun-18-2009)
