92 • Gesellmann 2006 Siglos, Pinot Noir, Burgenland.
Ruby color with limpid rim. Smoky aromas of charred nuts, cherry pie crust, and burnt sugar. A juicy entry leads to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with dried cherry, raisin puree, apple skin, and praline flavors. Finishes with a very tangy and mouthwatering fade. A delicious Old World styled food wine to pair with duck. (tasted on Jan-05-2009)
83 • Weingut Toni Hartl 2006 "La Création", Pinot Noir, Thermenregion.
Limpid ruby color. Spice, buttery praline, smoldering candle, and cherry-berry puree aromas follow through on a soft, somewhat dilute entry to a dryish light-to-medium body with pencil shaving and crabapple notes. Finishes in a baked berry skin and earthy mineral fade with pithy tannins. (tasted on Jan-12-2009)
