92 • Alexander Valley Vineyards 2010 Gewurztraminer, Mendocino County $12. Best Buy.
Golden silver color. Lush aromas of yellow rose petals, peony and lychee with a soft, fruity-yet-dry light-to-medium body and a graceful, tropical fruit salad and yellow apple and green pear skin finish. Very feminine and subtly expressive. (tasted on Apr-07-2011)
91 • Ferrante 2008 Signature Series, Gewurtztaminer, Grand River Valley $14.99. Best Buy.
Bright golden yellow color. Rich aromas of lychee, peach marmalade, and yellow rose with a satiny dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, oily nectarine and baked apple and mineral finish. A dead-ringer for an Alsatian gewurztraminer. Impressive. (tasted on May-04-2011)
86 • Laurel Lake 2010 Gewurztraminer, North Fork of Long Island $21.99.
Pale platinum straw color. Aromas pistachio praline, yellow apple sauce and peach yogurt with a silky, fruity-yet-dry light-to-medium body and a lightly creamy citrus and mineral finish. Pleasant. (tasted on Apr-07-2011)
84 • Tyee 2009 Estate, Gewurztraminer, Willamette Valley $19.  Certified Salmon-Safe
Pale golden color. Aromas of apricot butter, lemon zest, rose hips, and crushed almonds with a soft, dryish medium body and a drying slate and grass accented finish. (tasted on Apr-07-2011)
83 • Stein Family Wines 2009 Semi-Dry, Gewurztraminer, Los Carneros $22.
Creamy peach-mango creme brulee, white chocolate toffee, and spicy poached apple and pear aromas with a soft, dryish light-to-medium body and a lightly oxidized and sherried sautéed almond, citrus pith, and grassy earth accented finish. (tasted on Apr-07-2011)
81 • Frey 2009 Organic, Guntley Vineyards, Gewurztraminer, Mendocino$11.50.  Certified Organic
Unusual toasty caramelized nut, wood soaped wood, and apple aromas with a soft, dry light body and a green starfruit and hot springs water finish. Rather sheltered (by oak?) and dilute with little to no varietal character. (tasted on Apr-07-2011)
