93 • Daniel Gehrs 2008 Chenin Blanc, Monterey County $15.
Brilliant pale yellow hue. Attractive honeyed melon aromas have a varietal earthy accent. Complex. A ripe entry leads a flavorful, moderately full-bodied palate with crisp acidity. Intense and well-structured. Drying finish. Just a whole lot cooler than your average Chardonnay. Drink in the same way. Astounding value. (tasted on Aug-15-2009)

Bright yellow-straw hue. Opulent, perfumed pineapple and melon aromas show great purity and tropical-fruit ripeness. A lush entry leads a rounded, full-bodied palate with a supple texture. Sweet oak flavors linger through the finish. An interesting, complex, stylish Chardonnay. (tasted on Aug-15-2009)

Pale golden silver straw color. Bold sauvignon blanc like aromas of grilled grapefruit, quince, and prairie grass follow through on a bright entry to a dryish medium body with citrus custard, almond, onion skin, and delicate herb notes. Finishes a long, refreshing fade. A superb table wine to pair with spicy Latin chicken dishes, like Ecuadorian pincho. (tasted on Aug-31-2009)

Golden straw color. Aromas of singed peach cobbler crust and verbena follow through on a round, silky entry to a fruity medium body with dimensional honeyed peach and melon flavors and a long, crisp peach candy and fruit cocktail fade. Very tasty. Pair with crab salad or triple cream cheese. (tasted on Sep-08-2009)

Golden yellow color with a nickel cast. Aromas of dried peaches, apple crisp, golden raisins, and orange blossom honey follow through on a round, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with Key lime custard, cocoa butter, and delicate gingerbread notes on the tangy fade. A fun, well crafted chardonnay for sipping or with bbq chicken. (tasted on Aug-17-2009)

Deep golden-straw hue. Intense, perfumed brown butter, cream, and Dutch apple pie nose. A ripe entry leads a generous, moderately full-bodied palate with great depth of flavor.
