83 • Cedar Mountain 2008 Toy Vineyard Reserve, Viognier Port, Livermore Valley $25/375 ml.
Pale silvery straw color. Interesting aromas of poached pear, white chocolate and butterscotch schnapps follow through on an a silky entry to a sweet and sour medium body with melted beeswax, dried grapefruit, and nut fudge wrapper notes on the zippy, hot peppery fade. Curious; try with club soda and lime. (tasted on Jun-08-2009)
81 • Prager Winery & Port Works 2004 "Aria" White Port, Napa Valley$48.50.
Deep golden amber color. Interesting sherry like aromas of baguette dough and flour, apple cider soaked raisins, and nuts follow through on a limp entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with oxidized raisin box, apple bobbing water, and burnt sugar notes. Finishes with a roasted nut and earth fade; try using it like a sherry in cocktail. (tasted on Jun-08-2009)
