89 • Yorkville 2010 Rennie Vineyard, Merlot, Yorkville Highlands $25.  Organically Grown Grapes
Dense aromas of berry compote, pickled beets, chocolate, and baking spices with a silky, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a tangy boysenberry preserves, candied violet, green apple, cedar and graphite finish. Flavorful and well balanced. (tasted on Jul-01-2013)
89 • Sagebrush Annie's 2010 Merlot, Santa Barbara County $32. Cellar Selection.
Ruby color. Aromas and flavors of talc, toasted marshmallows and dried bananas and berries with a crisp, dryish medium body and a tangy pomegranate, vanilla cream, and graphite powder finish with firm tannins. Nice now, but will be better in a couple of years. (tasted on Jul-01-2013)
87 • Pollak Vineyards 2010 Estate, Merlot, Monticello $28. Cellar Selection.
Garnet color. Aromas of chocolate espresso beans, herbs, and toasty berry pie with a tangy, medium body and a dark berry, toast, and roasted nut finish with firm tannins. (tasted on Jul-01-2013)
