89 • Brian Carter Cellars 2007 Oriana White, Yakima Valley $24.
Brilliant straw hue. Subdued, almondy, creamy nose. A crisp entry leads a rounded, moderately full-bodied palate with fresh acidity. Ripe, minerally finish. A clean, stylish blend of Viognier, Rousanne, and Riesling that will work well with rich seafood preparations--particularly scallops (tasted on Oct-05-2009)
86 • St. Clair 2008 Delforge Reserve White, New Mexico $26.99.
Bright yellow-straw hue. Perfumed peach and talc aromas. A crisp entry leads a medium-bodied palate with prominent melon and tropical citrus flavors. Fruit sweetness comes through on the drying, zesty finish. A refreshing, aperitif-style blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc. (tasted on Oct-05-2009)
