90 • Mazza Chautauqua Cellars 2009 Pinot Grigio, Finger Lakes $13.95. Best Buy.
Pale silvery straw color. Mild aromas of peach gelato, lime, and cashew brittle with a soft dryish light-to-medium body and a tart apple, melon, lemon, and mineral finish. Nicely styled and very reminiscent of a fine Italian pinot grigio. (tasted on Nov-08-2010)
88 • Mazza Chautauqua Cellars 2009 Reserve, Pinot Grigio, Finger Lakes $14.95. Best Buy.
Pale silvery straw color. Tropical aromas of lychee and peach custard, meringue, and dried banana with a soft, round dryish medium body and a long, tart lemon, nougat, honeydew, and grassy earth finish. Very nice with a lot of distinctive character. (tasted on Nov-08-2010)
87 • Viansa 2009 Pinot Grigio, Sonoma Valley $20.
Pale straw color. Aromas of pistachio nougat, lemon sorbet, and dried peach with a soft, silky dryish light-to-medium body and a tangy tart pear, orange zest and nut finish. An appetizing pinot grigio that will go well with scallops. (tasted on Nov-08-2010)
