89 • Yellow Hawk 2006 Sangiovese, Walla Walla Valley $15. Best Buy.
Garnet color. Shy aromas with hints of baked berries, singed cedar, and seared meat follow through on a supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with char roasted nuts, tomato and and herb notes. Finishes with a bright, powdery tannin fade. Pair with roasted duck or hangar steak. (tasted on Jan-04-2010)

Deep garnet color. Aromas of cherry, vanilla, ginger, and floral beeswax follow through on a round entry to a dryish medium body with cedar and delicate spice notes. Finishes with a tangy, citrus peel and anise seed accented fade. A crisp and lively sangiovese that will do well with pasta and pork dishes. (tasted on Dec-07-2009)

Ruby garnet color. Aromas of black cherry, honeycomb, and delicate spice follow through on a round entry to a dryish medium body with tomato and lavender water notes. Finishes with a crisp, chewy tannin fade. Serve with braised beef or mushroom ragout. (tasted on Jan-04-2010)

Deep ruby color. Reserved aromas of black raspberry, beeswax, and licorice follow through on a soft, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with dried apple skin, cherry cider vinegar, and nutskin notes. Finishes with a crisp, peppery, dusty tannin fade. Pair with veal piccata. (tasted on Nov-30-2009)

Ruby red color. Aromas of wax and dried apples and cherries follow through on a soft, somewhat limp entry to a light-to-medium body with tart green berry, plum skin, and cocoa notes. Finishes with a quick, dusty tannin fade. (tasted on Nov-30-2009)
