92 • Biohof Pratsch 2007 Hoferthal, Sauvignon Blanc, Niederösterreich.
Silvery straw color. Gooseberry, tall grass, lime zest, and light praline aromas follow through on a very zesty entry to a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body with a bright blend kumquat, grapefruit, and cream notes. Finishes with a tangy, lingering, mineral accented fade. A remarkably fresh and "alive" sauvignon blanc that will shine with spicy seafood cuisine. (tasted on Jan-14-2009)
90 • Felberjörgl 2007 Kreuzegg, Sauvignon Blanc, Sudsteiermark.
Pale straw color. Classic aromas of gooseberry, grass and citrus peels follow through on a bright entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with layers of delicate sage, waxy green pepper, and minerals on the long, refreshing finish. (tasted on Jan-14-2009)
87 • G & R Nastl 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Kamptal.
Very pale silvery straw color. Composted grass, dandelion, dried lemon, and sour cream aromas. A bright, brisk entry leads to a dryish light-to-medium body with a mixture of bruised citrus, olive skin, garden flowering weeds, and pewter-like minerality. Finishes with a crisp, almost bracing lemon juice-like acidity (tasted on Jan-14-2009)
84 • Domaine Stürgkh 2007 Hochwarth, Sauvignon Blanc, Südoststeiermark.
Pale yellow straw color. Caramel candy and mild gooseberry jam aromas follow through on a soft, almost flat entry to a dry light-to-medium body with green apple skin and hay notes. Finishes with a somewhat dilute citrus water and wet stone accented fade. (tasted on Jan-14-2009)
