93 • Miyazaki Honten 2008 Junmai-Ginjo "Miyanoyuki" Sake $10/720 ml. Best Buy.
Silvery straw color. Ripe melon, roasted pineapple, pink peppercorn, and creamy nougat aromas follow through on a silky, soft entry to a fruity-yet-dry light-to-medium body with good depth of flavor and soft acidity. Finishes with a nice cream, fruit gum, and spice accented fade. An excellent, balanced and lively sake to pair with spicy sushi. (tasted on Dec-11-2008)
91 • Hananomai Extra Dry "Katana" Ginjo Sake $16/720ml.
Very pale platinum straw color. Delicate aromas of profiteroles, sweet cream, and honeyed nougat follow through on a bright, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with wonderful melon and pepper notes. Finishes with a long, melon rind and grainy dough note. Excellent flavor and acidity to pair with tempura. (tasted on Dec-11-2008)

Pale straw green color. Ripe melon, pear, nougat and anise seed aromas follow through on a bright entry to a fruity-yet-dry light-to-medium body with nice depth and crisp acidity. Finishes with a long, honeyed nut, and sweet potato, and persimmon pastry fade. (tasted on Dec-11-2008)
89 • Hananomai Jun-Mai-Ginjo Sake $18/720ml.
Platinum straw color. Creamy nougat, mint soufflé, pineapple, and coconut milk aromas follow through on a soft, round entry to a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body meringue apple-pear tart and delicate spice notes. Finishes with a long pastry cream and dried tropical citrus fade. Great flavor and style. (tasted on Dec-11-2008)

Sweet potato pie crust, coconut cream, dusty nut, and salt water taffy aromas follow through on a brisk, buoyant entry to a lively, dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body with apple skin and meringue notes. Finishes with a crisp mealy apple, honeyed nut, and mint water fade. A light, lively, and purely flavorful sake that will make a fine aperitif (tasted on Dec-11-2008)

Silver with a straw cast. Coconut and buttermilk, floral talc, and overripe pear aromas have a latex edge and follow through on a round, buoyant entry to a fruity-yet-dry light-to-medium body with pineapple yogurt cream and radish notes. Finishes with a bright refreshing, toasted nut accented fade. Different. (tasted on Dec-16-2008)
