93 • Salvano 2007 "Trabuch", affinato in barrique, Langhe Rosso $34.99.
Deep garnet color. Aromas of crusty tomato-olive tart, berry pie, and pistachio nougat follow through on a supple, satiny entry to a dry-yet -fruity medium-to-full body with polished depth, balance and smoothness. Finishes with a deft array of savory earthiness, spiced apples, and mandarin orange peel tanginess. A complex, yet uncomplicated wine that will provide great pleasure at the table. 87 • Benedetta 2008 Chianti $10.99. Best Buy.
Deep ruby black color. Boysenberry, clay, and char-roasted nuts aromas have delicate dried meat and rosemary notes and follow through on a soft entry to a dryish medium body with good depth and a tangy berry skin and firm, powdery tannin finish. (tasted on Jun-14-2010)
85 • La Cantina Pizzolato 2009 NSA "Rosso Convento", Piave $12.99.  Certified Organic
Rich aromas of dried berries, oily marzipan, and coconut flakes. Polished wood and marinated okra nuances on the dryish medium-bodied palate with a pithy finish. A bit esoteric, but food friendly acidity keeps everything in check and well working for the table. (tasted on Jun-14-2010)
