90 • Pearmund Cellars 2007 Ameritage Reserve, Virginia $29.
Deep garnet purple color. Interesting aromas of peanut butter chocolate fudge, orange custard, and cassis follow through on a supple, silky entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium body with lemon verbena, grape skin, and pepper spice notes. Finishes with a orange soufflé, slate, and honey fade. Very nice, dynamic wine for sipping or pair with spicy Thai pork dishes. (tasted on Feb-09-2009)

Deep garnet violet color. Aromas of chocolate, dried lavender, and mulberries follow through on a soft entry to a sweet and sour medium body with persimmon jam on sourdough and French milled bath soap notes. Finishes with a tangy and tart berry skin, dusty bruised pear skin and mineral fade. Interesting. (tasted on Feb-09-2009)

Deep garnet color. Inviting aromas of black raspberry pie a la mode and white pepper follow through on a soft, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with black cherry, spice bag, and slate notes. Finishes with a berry skin and peppercorn fade. A big, juicy wine with a warm peppery streak; pair with pepper steak. (tasted on Feb-12-2009)

Aromas of mocha and pie crust follow through on a round, supple entry to a fruity-yet-dry medium body with tangy chocolate covered berry and cherry flavors and a creamy soft tannin fade. A very pleasant sipper or Kobe burger wine. (tasted on Feb-09-2009)

Deep ruby color. Butte roasted nuts, sautéed pepper, cocoa and spice aromas follow through on a soft entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with caramel apple and tomato, and onion skin notes. Finishes with a breezy berry and spiced nut fade. A nice lively wine for sipping or the table with lighter fare. (tasted on Feb-09-2009)

Dark garnet with a violet rim. Baked currant and chocolate frosting aromas follow through on a bright entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium body with caramel apple, butter toasted pistachios, and delicate spice. Finishes with a crisp, powdery tannin fade. (tasted on Feb-09-2009)
