94 • Echeverria 2009 Signatura 1, Syrah, Maipo Valley $80.
Deep garnet black color. Aromas of boysenberry chutney, caramelized nuts, and eucalyptus with a silky, fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body and a long, tangy, spiced cherry and mineral accented finish. A deliciously flavorful and classy syrah for sipping or the finest cut of prime rib. (tasted on Feb-04-2013)
93 • Quasar 2009 Signo, Syrah, Maipo Valley $70. Cellar Selection.
Inky violet garnet color. Dense aromas of spiced toffee, eucalyptus, and black raspberry jam with a chewy, fruity-yet-dry medium-full body and a lively, baking spice, cedar, and mineral accented finish. A vibrant, flavorful syrah that is drinking beautifully now, but will be even better in a year or two. (tasted on Feb-04-2013)
88 • Tabalí 2011 Reserva, Syrah, Limarí Valley $14.99. Best Buy.
Inky purple color. Aromas of chocolate covered graham cracker, praline, and berry yogurt with a silky, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a tangy, cassis, citrus, oak, and mineral accented finish with powdery tannins. A fine table wine or sipper. (tasted on Feb-04-2013)
