95 • Ledson 2007 Cepage, Sonoma County $86.
Lots of chocolate covered berry, pickled okra, and root vegetable aromas. Supple and polished smooth with a dry-yet-fruity medium-full body. Dried berries, melon and citrus emerge on the Finishes with an Old World earth and herb accent and smooth clay-like tannins. Very elegant and flavorful in a claret vein. (tasted on Aug-12-2010)

Deep violet garnet color. Complex aromas and flavors of dried cassis, creme brulee, olive, leather, spice, and cocoa. Rich and sinewy on the palate with a dry-yet-fruity medium-full body and a long, chewy cedar, roasted vegetable, and slate accented, chewy tannin finish. A powerful and brooding red blend to serve with prime rib and porterhouse. (tasted on Aug-09-2010)

Deep garnet violet color. Aromas of mushroom tart, melted chocolate on cherries, clay, and pickled peppers follow through on a round, silky entry to dry-yet-fruity medium body-to-full body with excellent depth and tangy balance. Finishes with a long, savory and spicy fade with soft polite tannins. Fantastically poised for the table and a pleasure to drink. (tasted on Jul-29-2010)

Opaque garnet violet color. Ripe berry pie, toasted coconut, and sweet spice aromas. Supple and lively with a dry-yet-fruity medium body. Finishes with crisp berries, apples, black olives and crunchy tannins. A zesty and satisfying table wine with a lot of character to pair with spicy lamb dishes. (tasted on Aug-12-2010)

Aromas of chocolate, tart lingonberries, clay, and beeswax follow through with very good depth and tartness and appealing eucalyptus-menthol and cocoa note. Finishes with a firm, earthy tannin fade. A powerful brooding wine that needs big foods and time. (tasted on Aug-09-2010)

Inky violet color. Rich and complex aromas and flavors of clay, chocolate mint, blueberry pie crust, and Asian spices. Silky and buoyant with a dry-yet-fruity medium-full body. Long smooth olive and leather accented finish. A very elegant and polished table wine that will excel with prime rib. (tasted on Aug-12-2010)

Ripe plum and raspberry and picked okra aromas. Supple and soft with a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body. Long tangy, cocoa, citrus, spice, and graphite finish with dusty mouth coating tannins. A nicely rounded claret styled table wine to serve with ribeyes. (tasted on Aug-12-2010)

Pure garnet color. Lively chocolate covered cherry and berry aromas with hints of rhubarb, tea, peppercorn and Provence spices follow through on a lively entry with very good depth and balance. Nearly opaque garnet violet color. Aromas of baked cherries, chocolate, baking spices, and flower bed follow through on a round, supple entry with very good depth and vibrancy. Finishes with a savory tomato, vegetable, herb and cherry skin fade with chewy balanced tannins. (tasted on Jul-29-2010)
