Deep garnet color. Aromas of berry compote, custard, lightly smoky cedar, coffee and grilled pepper follow through on a round entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with crisp green apple and roasted root vegetable notes. Finishes with a long, crunchy tannin and savory leafy herb and spice dissolve. A great table wine to pair with veal and even spicy tuna. (tasted on Jul-29-2010)
92 • Viansa 2005 "Samuele", Cabernet Franc, Sonoma County $55. Cellar Selection.
Opaque garnet violet color. Dense aromas of boysenberry and plum jam, mint leaf, smoked root vegetable, and vanilla bean follow through on round, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-full body with great depth and dense waves of dried fruits, cocoa, nuts, sandalwood and spice on the long, generous and leafy tannin finish. A real show stopper style of cabernet franc that continue to develop with time. (tasted on Jul-29-2010)
