Znojmo
Znojmo is a wine appellation located in the far southern reaches of the Czech Republic. The appellation here is known as VOC, which was established in 2009; it is based on the AOC French appellation system. There are only three white varieties that are allowed to use the VOC designation: Sauvignon Blanc, (Rhine Riesling and Gruner Veltliner. Other varieties found in the Znojmo region include Chardonnay, Rulander, Müller-Thurgau and Moravia Muscat, a local breed of Muscat that is a cross of two aromatic varieties; Pinot Noir and Saint Laurent are tow reds also planted in this zone; ice wine from Gruner and/or Riesling are also produced.
