Black garnet color. Aromas and flavors of buttery dark roasted nuts, berry fruit leather, and clay with a supple, bright, dry-yet-fruity full body and a smooth, charming, long finish with notes of craisins, sour cherry and tomato chutney, and herbed nuts with fine, chewy tannins and moderate oak flavor. A rich, juicy, wide-lens red that paints a piquant, pleasure-packed picture on the palate.

Alicante Bouschet is a red wine made from the grape of the same name. The unusual thing about this red grape is that the color of the juice is red, unlike most red varieties, in which the juice is clear.

Alicante Bouchet is produced in several countries, especially the United States, Chile, Portugal and to a lesser extent, France and Italy. Many producers that work with the wine will use it in a blend, as in Morellino di Scansano from Tuscany. However there are stand-alone versions, especially from California. These example are very ripe with blackberry and plum flavors, rich, chewy tannins and balanced acidity. Meant to be comsumed after a few years in the bottle, pair with hearty dishes, such as stews, wild game and BBQ meats.
