BTI Gears Up for Their Biggest Wine, Beer, & Spirits Tastings

An open call for producers to enter their brands

From August through October, BTI’s tasting room will be in high gear as the biggest categories of the year take place in all three of BTI’s competitions. BTI welcomes all producers to participate with their brands.

The 9th annual World Value Wine Challenge (WVWC) is open to all wines $20 and under and equips brands with value-based accolades. Due to the soft economy and the plummeting sales of wines over $20, BTI expects the 2009 competition to draw more entries and press coverage than ever.   more >>

Norton is a grape that produces great wine, wins awards all of the time, and pairs wonderfully with all sorts of red meat and barbecue. So why haven’t you heard about Norton before?

“It’s because too many winemakers and winery owners go ‘Oh, ick, gooey, it’s a hybrid,’ ” says Dennis Horton of Virginia’s Horton Vineyards, which has been making Norton since 1989, selling as much as 3,000 cases a year (more than many wineries in Texas make of everything).   more >>
