Though hardly the "next new thing," a number of regional specialties around the country are waiting to surprise the unsuspecting wine tourist and provide a welcome change of pace.
A number of these wines are made in states such as Wisconsin or Missouri, from grapes such as Marechal Foch, Frontenac and Marquette; they are idiosyncratic with tangy flavors and moderate tannins; they are meant for early consumption.
